I called the Quality Inn (412 683-6100), said I wanted to reserve a room for the CMU Perl Workshop for Oct 12-14, and was quoted a nightly rate of $101.99 (presumably before tax). This was described as the rate for "events associated with the university." The Location page on this sight says the conference rate is only $74.99: a $27.00 discrepancy! Can you explain this?

The clerk suggested I try reserving on the Internet. The lowest pre-tax nightly rate I could get for the Quality Inn there was $107.99. (Would we have a Special Rate ID to enter there?)

Can you clarify? Thank you very much.
